YYC Airport Development Program (ADP)
Keeping Pace with Growth

Calgary International Airport has more than doubled in size and passenger volumes over the last 15 years and keeping pace with this growth has become a challenge. As Alberta's premier international passenger and cargo gateway to the world, YYC is an important economic engine for the city, region and province, generating over $6 billion in economic activity. YYC has the most extensive passenger service network in central Canada and is one of only three airports in Canada to offer passengers non-stop service to both Europe and Asia.

Passenger growth is expected to continue to increase at a rate of 3-4% annually, eventually reaching more than 27 million passengers by 2025. YYC is already experiencing demand in excess of facility capacity, particularly during peak-times, with limited ability to accommodate additional flights. In response, $3 billion will be invested in YYC over the next 10 years, which will include the development of a new international concourse, being built to accommodate increased international passenger demand and a new parallel runway, which is scheduled to be in service by the Spring 2014. The ADP will help YYC keep pace with passenger and cargo traffic growth, serving Calgary and Alberta's air service needs.
